Good deals at PC World

For anyone wishing to buy from PC world a great money saving tip is to buy on line and collect in store. Prices advertised on the web are generally cheaper than those in store. All you need do is leave it an hour after ordering on line before collecting in store. Easy!

I wouldn't buy b**ger all from PC World
  • It might be easy to buy, but what happens when the product goes wrong?

I purchased a network router from the shop, on the advice of the sales assistant. The box had been opened, so they offered me a discount and assured me they had checked the box contents. Checking the box contents myself before I left their car park I realised that a.) the CD was missing from the box; and b.) it was the wrong system for my set up - despite telling the assistant clearly what my system comprised.

Back into the shop I went. I was directed to the returns/repairs desk where I waited, together with around 20 other customers to be served by a team of 'specialists' who [I felt] needed training on what a customer is. 1 hour later - yes, 1 hour - I left their shop with the correct kit.

During the wait we (the customers waiting with faulty, broken or inappropriate equipement) all commented there were more sales staff meandering around the shop than there were potential customers! But worse, there were more people in our queue than there were potential customers in the shop. And yet their sales staff walked past us as if we did not exist.

Customer support is important, and especially in the world of IT.

Have I been back to PC World since?

Would I ever consider buying off the internet from PC World?

You know the answer to both these questions.
  • A better idea is not to buy from PC World, there are far better places these days to get a good offer. If you want a good after service then be careful where you buy!
