Slimy Chicken?

Hi all,
I defrosted a whole chicken on the side last night then it went into the fridge first thing this morning. I've just jointed it to use for dinner tonight and tomorrow and noticed there was a slimy membrane between the skin and the meat.
I've jointed loads of chickens before but never come across this... Is it normal and OK to eat? There was no smell to it beyond normal 'chicken' smell so I don't think it's off...
Thanks,
Kevin

All animals have a membrane between the skin and the muscle, it may just be more noticeable as the chicken might have become a bit wet during defrosting.0

Thanks GwylimT.
I think this is the first chicken I've had from a butcher rather than from the supermarket so I wondered if it could be something to do with the breed too?

as Gwylim says, ALL animals have this membrane. I usually notice it more if I am inserting a flavouring between the meat and skin, and it can be more noticeable if the chicken has been defrosted I think. its quite normal and the chicken is fine!0
