I'd like to borrow some money for a rental deposit (and possibly a month's rent in advance). Sainsburys smallest loan is £1000 so it would be that.
I'm 19, work part time, haven't had any credit before except my mobile phone contract, am on the electoral register, I've lived at my current address 1 year and my previous for 13, have been with my bank for seven years, no debts.
What does everyone think?
Stunningly unlikely. The best people to ask for a loan in your position would be your bank. If they say no, then it's almost guaranteed everyone else will too.urs sinserly,

Save up.
Then you'll have the money.0 -
If you're 19 I assume you stay at home?
What's wrong with that? Why would you burden yourself with rent and bills while working part time and with no cash behind you whatsoever?0 -

If you bank with Barclays log on to internet banking then click Products at the top menu and then choose View Pre - Selected Offers listed under the Loans heading.
This will show you if Barclays have pre-selected you to apply for a loan and, if so, how much they might lend you.0 -
How much do you class as money behind you if it wouldn't cover a deposit?
Move home for a couple of months and save up0 -
No-one knows except the lender, as there are too many variables involved. There's little point anyone speculating as it won't change the outcome. If you want to apply and find out, you'll get the answer.0

Sainsburys are strict, as others have said go onto barclays online banking. Apr will be high thoughDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Dont you have any other credit available like credit cards or overdraft ?
small loans can be quite expensive, and as you say you can have the money in a few months, it seems unwise to take on a loan for a year
A credit card might be easier to obtain and if u can clear the balance in a few months wont cost you must at all0
