Effect on Pensions If I Leave the UK

My questions is very specific. I am planning to leave the Uk and move to Eastern Europe (not an EU member country). I have two children and receive Child Benefit for both.
My question is wether I am still entitled to the child benefit? I am planning to keep my property in the UK and rent it out. If I forfeit my Child Benefit then will I have to make National Insurance Contributions in order that I get my full pension?
Thanks
Susan

Answer, no you won't be able to keep the child benefit (even if you were in the EU) and yes, it would be a good idea to make voluntary contributions to your pension (although remeber that is some countries you will not get rises in your pension when it is paid out).
Contact the HMRC, Centre for non-residents on 0191 2254869 about your pension contributiions.

If you are getting Child Benefit and you
go to the Republic, but you are not
leaving the UK for good, you can usually
be paid UK Child Benefit for the first
eight weeks you are away.
The agreement with the Republic may
also allow you to get Child Benefit at
other times if:
you (or your husband or wife if
you go with them) go to work in
the Republic;
and you continue to pay UK National
Insurance contributions.0 -

Hi, I'm not sure, but I think it means paying Class One (employed) contributions rather than Class 3 (Voluntary).
Will you be working for a UK employer once you are abroad? (I got the impression you would not be, sorry if I misunderstood).
If so and you are paying Class One contributions to the UK, then you shouldn't need to pay Class Three as well.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

If you are employed when you go abroad you only have to pay Class 2 conts which are very cheap (just over 2 quid a week). Bargain.
Doesn't apply to SAHMs though, you have to have a job or be self employed. Trying to keep it simple...
