I started with the Atari and space invaders, moved onto the amiga, playstation, now xbox, with pc games thrown in too.
I'm not far off 50, and still love gaming, although not very good on the latest shooters (but love spec ops 2 and BF3 on multi-player. Most people my age think it a bit odd that I still play, especially when I am bawling down the mic to my mate (who is also 40+).
I still enjoy Civ and Sim City (not latest versions though, my laptop can't run them). Also footie games, Pro Evo 4 was the best, with sensie and fifa world cup 2010 not too far behind.
So is it just me and my old mate, or are there more of us?

I started off on a Sinclair ZX81 and upgraded to a Spectrum 48K, in the days when you could program your own games into them. Over the Years I went on to an Amiga, Atari, Vic20 and Commodore 64K.
Then came the consoles, I skipped the Sega era and did not invest into consoles till the PS1. I now have a PS2 and a PS3, my Son has himself an Xbox360.
Albeit I am now in my 40s, I still play on the PS3\PS2 from time to time. I do miss programming games in basic, the likes of which most Playstation gamers of today will have no concept of.
Your never too old to play the games, but can be too young to understand the machine code that goes into creating them.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I started off with an Acorn Electron, then saved up a lot of pennies and bought a BBC Master 128k, had an awful lot of fun with that.
Later I got a PlayStation (1), it wasn't my idea but my bro-in-law who had one I hadn't played a game in years, I couldn't believe how much gaming had come on since then. I loved it so much I bought one of my own. I've since owned a PS2 and a PS3 as well as PC games.
I'm not a big gamer but do enjoy it from time to time.I do miss programming games in basic, the likes of which most Playstation gamers of today will have no concept of.
Kind of miss it myself too I've been following some tuts of Visual Basic when I can, once you get past the new UI stuff there is the familiar stuff you recognise "If... Then... Else" statements, etc. Not hard to understand, it just takes time which I don't have a lot of.0 -
I'm not sure we should be called senior. I'm trying hard to pretend I'm not even middle aged!!0

I'm really senior, also, female. You lot are "not-teenagers"
-- probably more or less the same generation as my nephew, who began on a BBC-B, ISTR. (I began later, on a PCW.)

I don't think of myself as senior (nearly 40) I had an acorn as a child and remember typing out programmes (I wasn't old enough to write my own but had a book I could copy them out off). I remember if it didn't work I had to go back and check I had typed everything in as it had been written, then the excitement and joy when it worked that I had created my own game
its a real shame kids can't do that anymore.
Later I purchased myself a ps1 then a ps2. Left it for a while and now really enjoy playing with my son on the wii0 -
This thread gives me hope! I'm nearly 30, and recently moved back to PC gaming. We all know it's where the cool kids are
I remember coming home one day in 1990 to find my shiny new Mega drive waiting for me. Little did I know I wouldn't stop gaming!0 -
Since when has over 25 been classed as senior!!??? I must admit I am a touch paranoid at the moment regarding age (I am 40 next birthday) but I refuse to class myself as senior.0

There are several other gaming communities for older gamers that use words like 'old', 'oldies' and 'senior' in their titles for this reason.0 -
I'm not quite a senior (early 30s) but did start gaming on the old Spectrum 48K0
