Best dishwasher tablets/powder?

Just bought our very first dishwasher and very excited!! As I love baking it will save lots if time with cleaning up:j

For those of you who have a dishwasher do you prefer tablets or powder and which of the cheaper brands clean the best?

I love the fairy tablets.. I found the finish tablets and the supermarket own powder don't dissolve properly and left residue on everything.

I buy them in bulk when on offer as they are very expensive otherwise.

I rarely run the DW at higher temps though so it is probably that but I can't see the point in washing hotter if the dishes are first rinsed.

    Hi
When I was shopping with the lil one he made me buy the tesco value ones - I normally buy finish but he shamed me by saying" if there no good buy them again" and they've been fine ... To tell the truth I haven't noticed a difference ;)

Powder is much cheaper than tablets but quite difficult to find in the SMs. I had a 6 month supply of tablets free with my DW last year and am on the last box so have just bought some cheap Daisy powder from Tesco.

Haven't tried it yet but can't see any reason why it won't work just as well as the branded ones.

I use the Daisy tablets from Tesco. I had some free Super Deluxe Finish ones too and can't notice any difference.

Value ones have worked fine here!! But found finish on offer in macro and Costco recently which makes them cheaper. I also have a small dishwasher and break tabs in half.... Can't do with finish ones tho as they have that ball thing!!!!

I use lidl tablets. Not the 3 in 1, but the normal ones as I read that it's better to use seperate rinse aid, salt and tablets..anyway I get them all from lidl as it's the cheapest place I have found and they work a treat. £1.60something for 30 and as I have a slimline dishwasher I use half a tablet per wash. Everything is sparkly clean.

I've tried a few cheaper ones, but I always go back to quantum. With the other brands I start noticing tea stains in the mugs. Back to quantum & they go. I wish I could find cheap ones just as good, but I can't - Evan finish normal & fairy I don't find as good.

Eta I used to blame the old dishwasher needing the best tablets because it wasn't very good. But even when I got my new Bosch I found I still need quantum.

I found that the plastic coated ones can be a problem if you don't properly seal the bag they come in.; the plastic can start to degrade and they can stick in the little hatch in the dishwasher instead of dropping out to be dissolved and do their job.

I have given up on tablets .... both the powder tablets and the plastic ones. Got fed up of cutting the powder ones in half, mostly because they crumbled. Got fed up of the plastic ones because they are way too expensive, did not always disolve and were too strong.

Have happily found a supermarket dw powder. It means that I can add a tablespoon for each wash. If the dishes are more dirty or I have a very full dw then I add 2 tablespoons. I just chuck the powder into the bottom of the dw as my powder/tablet door does not work anymore. Not sure if this is the way to do it ,but I can assure you all my dishes and cups come out absolutely lovely and clean. I have also noticed that inside of the dw is really clean too.

Oops forgot to say this method works out the cheapest for me!. Dont get stuck on the idea that the more expensive brands are that much better.
