nationwide nitemare

hello i have been trying to buy a house for 6 months now, i had been accepted by nationwide for the mortgage then the first hurdle came when the wanted a structural report doing on the property after the report came back they had me get different quotations of work that needed to be done on the house. i am a joiner and intended doing the work my self and found it horrible asking different builders for quote that they were never going to get the work for. the nxt hurdle was because i had a car on finance and a credit card i was asked to pay them off (a total dedt of 8,000) i have now done this and payed all my dedt. the next hurdle was getting insurance on the house the said that my excess could not be more than a £1000 i found one that would insure a property that has had subsidence in the past but the excess was £2500 nationwide will not accept this. i am now trying to use the company's liability policy who i work for in order to do the work to bring it up to an insurable state does anyone think this will work. last week they put this house into auction luckily it did not sell at auction and if i can get the insurance sorted i will be in for a very reduced price on the property. i wish i would of given up months ago so far i am up to £2000 worth of fee's for something i do not own and been a first time buyer this is a big struggle thanks

if using public liability insurance will be ok for the mortgage thanks
