IT Training & Guaranteed Jobs

Graduates and jobseekers....Please be aware of training scams and offers of 'guaranteed work'. More and more cases of fraud are being experienced by jobseekers, graduates and young vulnerable people. There are many agencies and firms that claim to provide you with 'jobs' and 'training', but there is one particular company who seem to con many people and a few of my friends. Unfortunately, I was also conned by this disgraceful firm. This firm is called 'FDM Group'. The FDM Group and their ‘Academy’ are simply a con. Their Academy training scheme was devised by Rod Flavell and set up to manipulate, exploit and con graduates and vulnerable people who are desperately seeking work in IT. He is the mastermind to a scam which has affected many innocent victims. There are a few things you should be aware of. They mostly do NOT guarantee you a job in IT after training with them, as they claim. Most people I know were forced to take up positions that were not related to their IT training. They struggle to put people into their so called 'guaranteed' jobs so they pressure you into doing something a 'bit' different - so they make their money out of you with a 'huge' cut in commission out of your wages. Certain members of their sales staff are so good at doing this - beware, they are con artists who are very good at their skills in convincing people that they are getting a good deal with the 'so-called' IT jobs. In fact, FDM Group employed some sales people who have no knowledge of the IT industry - it is no wonder that they supply jobs that are not even IT-related. They have conned a number of vulnerable graduates who were desperately seeking their first pot of gold at the end of that IT rainbow. The FDM sales team are purely money-minded with no care or thought for IT careers of those poor individuals who are desperately seeking their first pot of gold at the end of that IT rainbow.

I was simply conned from the start with FDM Group and their dodgy contract. They make you sign a contract before your training which contains some dodgy clauses in it. They employ sales people who are used to lure people into this deception and false contract. The FDM Group like to scare-monger and threaten people into doing the jobs that they want you to do - not what you actually want to do or have trained to do. After starting with the FDM Group, I heard rumours from a few other colleagues about the scare-mongering tactics that are used. They might seem nice at first, BUT after you sign their contract you are simply stuck in a rut with their scam. Please note that many people were never guaranteed the 2 years of work after training. Their contract contains a few extreme measures and strange clauses which include hefty fees and fines if you do not comply with their scam.

I later discovered that this firm was investigated for fraud and deception. In particular, their operations manager, Steve Buxton was investigated and convicted of several counts of fraud by conning many graduates and promising them with careers and training in IT. As well as a racist, who abused many workers, he obtained 1000s of pounds from vulnerable graduates who were desperately seeking their careers in IT. Steve Buxton was convicted but narrowly escaped a prison sentence. He already served a prison sentence in the 80s for fraud, but his close connections to important people at the FDM Group helped him to secure a new future and conceal his criminal past. The FDM Group managed to pull some strings in order to cover up the traces of most of their fraudulent activities. Their CEO, Rod Flavell was also investigated for their part in the scam. Due to their cold hearted manipulation of people, they concealed their traces of illegal activity that they still continue to this day. Rod Flavell and his staff are despicable fraudsters and con artists who deceive and target vulnerable young people who simply want a future in the IT profession. It is astonishing that this firm is still in business and still trying to con many innocent graduates. What a shame to the IT industry.....The FDM Group mainly give pathetic or non-existent training, lack of support, threaten you with hefty fines, offer you jobs with fake promises and a dodgy contract. It's no wonder they were investigated for fraud and deception.

I'm sorry about your ( bad ) experience, but I had to laugh.

That's got to be the first time the words 'Flavell' and 'mastermind' have been used in the same paragraph without tanker loads of irony

Is FDM crap? Yes it is - they don't tell you the full story when they sign you up for the best part of 3 years

But 'mastermind'? It's just crass and unimaginative - make a load of promises - get people to sign a contract - and then move the goalposts

I'm sure well known Brighton fantasist Pinocchio Flavell, with his highly dubious academic track record - was it Sussex university or Brighton or did you eschew university - I've heard you tell all 3 - ? Was it a BA in Biology you studied? Can we see the certificate :rotfl: - likes to see himself as some sort of cunning fox, sadly I feel his academic record as with his 'sporting' record ( who was it again you reckoned you played pro football for?) are somewhat over egged.

Sorry again about your experience, just don't take Flavell too seriously. He's a pudding.

Steve Buxton, fwiw, is just a regular guy. From what I could see he is delegated all of the bullying etc that fearless Flavell wants doing but doesn't have the courage to do himself ( same thing for Steve applies to Lee )
