Astras and Rover 25s have good boot space and are reliable.

(you can fit loads of kit and 3 re-enactors/larpers in one of those bad boys)

I am sorry but Rovers reliable? Not in this reality.

My friend had a Rover 25, the engine blew up. Another mate had a Rover that rusted to bits in no time at all. A long time ago I was given a Rover 25 as a hire car for a couple of days, I've never driven anything quite so bad.

I've driven a few Vauxhalls, okay but would not be top of my list.

Rovers are perfectly reliable, if you go a Rover 25 or 45 with a well serviced K series 1.4. or 1.6 you'd get many years of trouble free motoring out of it. Like any other model, if it's been neglected you'll feel the pain.

I bought a 51 plate Rover 45 for £800 a few years back and it's lasted for years with just the odd fix here and there.

We also had an 07 CDTi Vectra which was an absolute money pit....£1500 for DMF? and that cost £6995 at the time. :D

My OH's R25 is Y reg and has lasted him a good few years, as did the one before that.
