Halifax Backlog ?

Hi all I am waiting on the official yes or no from Halifax they have all they need incl Home Report and valuation which has now been typed onto their headed paper on Tuesday so I have been told. But my MA said that Halifax have a backlog for mortgage apps at the moment we have been given an unofficial yes so my MA says she is just waiting on the offer being faxed to her.So is this backlog causing delays everywhere or is it just me.We applied for this on the 28/5 so the not knowing is driving me mad.And cannot get rough estimate of reply time from Halifax .

Is your 'mortgage adviser' a 'Halifax mortgage specialist' (or similar) i.e an in branch employee - because none of what you say makes any sense to be honestHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. My mate's an underwriter. He's been working overtime this week and is doing his first Saturday in years tomorrow somewhere in the frozen north.0

We are just making our full application with Halifax. Halifax are linked to Colleys in terms of surveying. We asked Colleys for a quote for a full building survey and they had noone available in the area at all (a large city). The bank mortgage advisor told us that as we were looking to complete quickly it was much better to go with someone else. It is very likely getting a Homebuyers from them has added to the delay. We already had an AIP and when I asked the advisor when was the soonest he had to process full application he had one appointment this week (Weds) and that was with us taking a day off. Halifax have a stamp duty paid for FTB deal which ends on 8th July, it is likely to be crazy busy at Halifax till then and we have been advised we'd be lucky to complete in 6 weeks. That's with no chain and a seperate survey.Saving for a deposit. £5440 of £11000 saved so far:j0

Just got off phone iwth MA with mortgage offer in post at last :T
She said her boss got involved so he helped speed it up but the underwriters over at Halifax say the no stamp duty deal is swamping them at the moment and they keep getting into little mix ups with papaer work missing delays etc just glad I got it at last0 -
It was withdrawn from broker products last thursday, so they are running a "buy now while stocks last" campaign via the branches and it's still taking half an hour on hold before you get the phone answered.
