Mileage allowances and washing uniform

Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me, I actually saw on someones post here a few days ago that their second job is as a pizza delivery driver which my husband does. I cant find the post but basically it said that relief could be claimed for mileage and washing the uniform - is this correct ?
My husband has worked on and off at Dominos for a few years and hasn't claimed any relief's from HMRC, will he be able to backddate it to 02/03?

He has worked 2 nights a week as follows:

Feb 07 - Apr 07 Working in shop (no mileage but has to was uniform twice a week)
Apr 06 - Feb 07 Pizza delivery driver driving his own car in uniform
Apr 05 - Mar 06 Pizza delivery driver driving his own car in uniform
We will need to check out the earlier years by looking at his P60's.

He has just got a better main job so is going to be giving it up on 22 June, will he still be able to claim this ?

We worked out he used to do at least 3300 miles per year for them and he got paid £1 per delivery (used to be a lot less) which would be £670 received for last year. He paid 22% tax being it was a second job.
Does this work out as 3300 X 40p = £1320 - £670 = £650 x 22% = £143 back ? or am i getting mixed up!
Also how does it work with washing the uniform? And how much to claim ?

Does anybody know a) how he goes about claiming especially as he's about to leave the job and b) what records would he have had to of kept?
Also if he can claim these amounts etc, will they be able to pay him it or will they adjust his tax code, this is where it gets annoying cos a) he's leaving dominos and b) he's leaving his main job to go to a new one so he'd be relying on them switching the codes correctly? Is it possible to just claim a refund ?

Thank you ever so much for anyone who takes time to reply
Leonie :)
