Firstly, I know I could/should have posted in IWIWIW but I don't like it in there for some reason I don't even know. I could have posted this in the Inn too but the ladies in there scare me. Finally, this might be the most sincere and soppy post I've ever written in MSE lol.
I just wanted to thank everyone
No exceptions
I first started comping for two reasons, the first being to get out of debt so I can save toward my dream, and the second to try and keep me indoors and stop myself from spending! I got drawn here by the big Money Makeover page on the main site, and after working from home work dried up, I thought I'd give this a try and the competitive nature I have got me hooked.
I know everyone has their own views on ethics and stuff and I openly admit I sell to top up my income but when I got debt free last year, mainly between saving every penny I earned or received (even to the point of picking coins up off the road?!) and supplementing that by eBay, I decided to keep going and see if I could get anywhere near my dream.
Today, it kinda came true. I put a deposit down tonight and I'm to become the owner of an old restored VW camper in the next couple weeks, and for those interested, it's in peppermint green
Admittedly, it's nearly bankrupted me, but I've been massively frugal (tight old mannish
) to continue the hardcore saving to climb back away from the 0 and to finalise the dream, which will be to build the bankroll enough to travel in the van across Europe for a good few years. I guess in essence, I'm halfway there.
To me, this is my perfect comp win, even though it wasn't a comp. I know the ITV comps et al would have been very nice, but I've been wanting this the best part of 10 years and to finally be so close to actually pootling along annoying everyone by being slow... I'm just so excited.
So this is a thank you to everyone that's posted, edited, advised, or done anything with this board, I would say there are a lot of you that have helped me achieve this in one way or another.
Anyway, enough of this soppiness, normal Ren service will be resumed shortly

Good stuff.Enjoy it & hope that it all works out :-)
No cuppas here as it's just water mainly with a later splash of Bud & Paddy.0 -
Such a lovely post, hope you've got some tie-dye gear to wear to go with the van
As you say an ITV win would have been a big help in getting there but I bet you're camper-ing will be even more sweeter knowing that your penny saving got you there. I'm sure you'll have a blast when you get your Euro road tripWine is made to be drunk, I am drunk, therefore am I wine?0 -

No ethics issues there as that is what many do I bet,at least I do.
DD went on £200 school trip recently that was paid for via MSE wins.
A few years back I won front row tickets to a Tina Turner concert.Yet again Ebay came in & later DD's birthday was very good,£300 good in fact :-)0 -
