    Thanks GV. Out of all the methods of refurbing I do dislike sanding, but it does give good results and at the end of the day, there's no point putting in the effort unless you're going to get good results.

    However that feeling of being caked in tiny particles sets my teeth on edge for days :D

    if your sander doesn't have a vacuum attachment is there any way you can tape on the nozzle of your hoover so that at least most of the sawdust is taken out of the air?

    Thanks, that's a good idea! I think it does have a nozzle but no dustbag.

    I shall rig something up with the hoover and some duct tape.

    I absolutely LOVE ercol furniture!
    My Nan's house us furnished with mostly ercol ad I'm in love with it.
    However whenever I try to buy some t ets bought for more than I an pay and equally sold on for EVEN more....
    I just want some reasonable priced good quality furniture :)
