in Cutting tax
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I was put on tax code 'BR' this month and a nice chunk of my wages was taxed.
I phoned the tax office and have had my tax code changed to 944L.
My payroll department really have been vague about when I will receive the money back but I've been told by others that the standard procedure is I will receive the overpaid tax in next months pay as long as my payroll department are informed of the tax code change before their processing period. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or am I best to ring the tax office? I really need this money back ASAP!

That is what should happen - your employer should get the new code from HMRC and the next time you are paid by your employer you will get any adjustment due.0
