Expat Mortgage Help Required

I am an expat currently living and working in Russia. I am hoping to get on the property ladder within the next year and purchase a property which may initially be buy to let with a longer term view of returning to the UK and moving into that property. I am a complete novice in this process and have no real credit history to speak of. I used my parents address to obtain the rating which came back as 999 but I'm not on the electoral role and I only have one credit card which I haven't used for about three years!

Unfortunately I don't work for a multinational company either. I'm a teacher and I work for a Russian private school. I have a contract and details of my salary but no wage slips from throughout the entire time of working there. Is there anyway that someone like me will be able to secure a mortgage.

Any assistance or advice about the next step in the process would be much appreciated.

Sorry, but I don't think you'll find any takers.

Ex Pats - typical criteria (excluding armed forces personnel) employer = multi-national or uk based company, full salary paid in sterling into a uk account, with a scheduled date of repatriation in place.

Save your pennies, and then when back in the uk get yourself some residency history for at least 6 mths (votors roll, employment, credit card which is repaid each month etc), then (taking your credit reports) go and speak to a whole of market broker whom will advise what options you have.

    Hope this helps
