Ex-partner, negative equity - don't know where to start

    What if the ex does have the 35k savings? And the OP has £0. Could the lender go after him for all the money?

    His silence just says he doesn't want to pay anything, regardless of whether he can afford it. If one person has more than the other then it might be a bit harsh if they have to pay more to cover the shortfall, if you are about equal then I suppose both in it together equally.

    I think the OP will need to do this through a solicitor - the ex is less likely to ignore the professional approach?
