Hi everyone, can anyone tell me if this is true.
I rang my local county court on Friday to ask about Bankruptchy and what will happen.
I dont need to make an appoinment I can just turn up mon-fri between 10-2 they said morning better.
I asked her what will happen and she said I would see her and pay the fee and she check the forms, then they will go to the judge to sign the bankrupchy, she said I would only be there about an hour.

And then I will go home and the OR will ring me at home, I thought the OR rang you while you where at the court first time, and then rang you again later?????
She said the OR will ring me within a couple weeks, but I thought you spoke to them sooner then that.

It varies from court to court, depending on what their schedules are. The scenario on here is the most common one but times are a changing and the OR's are getting busier.

If I will only be at the court for an hour that will be great, I am worrying about that bit the most, dont mind the phone call, I hate face to face though.

My mum is booking the day off work to come with me when I decide to go, I know she wont be able to come into the judge with me but at least she is there to talk to when I am waiting.

Yeah we are going for lunch, somewhere that day, I am planning on getting there for 10 so should be out in time for lunch.
Think it will be a relief when I walk out of that court and the petition has been stamped.

It's easy for me to say now after going through it a few weeks ago but the Court thingy really isn't anything to worry about. It took 1.5 hours to deal with me and my wife and they were really nice, friendly people. We never even saw the judge. A few hours later the OR's office rang and asked a few easy questions and arranged the interview for a couple of weeks later. We had the OR interiew and it took around an hour for my wife and 45 mins for me.

The OR was really nice and friendly. I really dont know what i was worrying about. YOU WILL BE FINE!! enjoy your luch afterwards.

Thank you for that Wharty thats a nice thing to know.
I am not going to do it net week as its my birthday and dont really want that on or around my birthday so planning on going to the court the week after, beginning of August, so hopefully by the end of August everything will be fine and I can just tell anyone that rings me that I am bankrupt.

I had to use my overdraft today what do I tell the OR etc it was for Shopping and they can see from the statement that it was Sainsburys when it is on there, would that matter? I was running out of food so had to stock up it was £37 so not that much.

Do you know what....I would do it on the day of your birthday. What better birthday present than walking away from court debt free? Imagine your next birthday...rather than getting some cards in the post you get an automatic discharge? Cheesy as it sounds, i would love to do that!

Shouldn't be a problem with using your overdraft for shopping as it is essential.
