Hi guys
I wonder if you could help me with cheapish ideas for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I would really like to make it very special for them for lots of reasons.
I have come up with a treasure hunt with their grandchildren, a wedding photo on canvas. (with a code of course). Maybe a video.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not the most creative person.
Thanks x

For mum and dads 40th anniversary, us 5 siblings got our photo taken professionally and got one framed for the living room wall. They had no clue we were getting it done and the both of them were totally speechless!
Will never forget my mums face!
(also, part of the reason was so that they could replace the professional photos that were taken for their 25th anniversary!)
For OHs 40th birthday I 'stole' his girls away for a day and got their photo taken for a big canvas (he was seriously lacking in recent photos round the house!!)
Lovely idea for sure. Maybe one of all the kids and grankids together?Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Thanks HeadAboveWater.

If they're not that well off, or - like many of their age - reluctant to treat themselves, you could make up a 'golden' food hamper, featuring items like Terrys All Gold chocolates, Golden Syrup, Golden Delicious Apples, Gold Roast coffee or just items in gold packaging etc (this isn't an orignal idea, so if you google something like 'golden anniversary' hampers you may well get a load of other suggestions as to what to put in it).
I imagibr it could be fun if you have youngish kids - get them to cover a box in gold wrapping paper, look out for suitable items and pack the hamper.0 -

You're welcome.
Out of curiousity I've just been on the Tesco website and searched on the word 'gold' and got over 300 hits - some include....
Nescafe Gold Blend coffee
Lenor Infusions Gold Orchid fabric conditioner
McVities Gold Biscuit Bars
Fosters Gold lager
Yorkshire Gold Tea bags
Green and Blacks Maya Gold Chocolate
McGuigan Gold Chardonnay wine
DEl Monte Pure Gold Pineapple Juice
Gold Label Barley Wine
and if you put in 'golden' you get another laod of items with things like 'golden grahams' cereal
<edit>
and I meant to add - the good thing about this is if you start far enough in advance, you can almost 'lose' the cost by just adding an item to each of your normal shops.0 -
Sadly, my dad died before my parents reached their 40th, but for my grandparents 50th, my grandmother was adament that there was to be nothing done, so it all had to be done on the hush hush.
Consequently, all we did was have an open house. Most got there when they could (it was a weekday, so there were obviously alot working), everyone had agreed beforehand on what food we were taking and we simply had a relaxed family day, with all of the neighbours coming also.
Highlight for me, being the first to arrive and as we were not expected, having to send my grandmother into the bathroom as she had just finished the milking and the cows had lifted their tails!
Higlight for her, having a conversation with 3 of my young (at the time!) cousins then suddenly questioning where they had come from as they didn't live in the same country! Plus having so many of her family in one go.
Whatever you do, don't stress about anything and you will enjoy it.A smile costs little but creates much0 -
