Couple of questions about becoming a rep

Hi.
I'm considering becoming a rep, but I was just wondering about a couple of things. I've found a few other companies besides Avon that I could be a rep for, but if anyone has any they recommend please tell me about them. Ideally want companies that are not to do with beauty/cosmetics.
Anyway, I was wondering how selling through your own website works. Do you have to have the items in stock? Do the company send them directly to the customer or would I be getting all the products and have to send them to the customer? Is it the same with all companies?
The other thing I want to know is, if you work for multiple companies could you do a party for all of them at once or would that not be allowed? I'd be selling different types of products so there wouldn't be any direct competition between companies, if that makes a difference.
