I also came across Roman Arms: Huntress by Ingrid de Haas on free offer on Kindle today. It is Roman action-adventure story - good for anyone who enjoys Ben Kane or Simon Scarrow.
She was born into luxury and destined to rule.
But now, with her mother dead and her father forced to flee his kingdom, Camilla has to flee to the woods - and learn how to fend for herself.
Trained in the use of bow and spear, Camilla’s hunting skills soon surpass her father’s. And when Diana, the goddess of the hunt, takes her under her wing, she sets out on the road to becoming the most lethal female killing machine of the ancient world.
But when Italy is invaded by Trojan refugees, who are willing to fight to the death for a new home far away from their sacked and demolished city, Camilla is quick to ally herself with the defenders of the land.
She fearlessly rides into battle, leading several squadrons.
But in the greatest test of her life, will Diana still help her?
'Roman Arms: Huntress' is a thrilling adventure story that is perfect for fans of Simon Scarrow and Ben Kane.
'De Haas’ intriguing concept develops a female character from Virgil’s ‘Aeneid’ in an entertaining mix of myth and action. There’s a quiver full of battles, goddesses and magic here.' Paul Bannister, author of ‘Arthur Britannicus.’
Ingrid de Haas has a doctorate in Roman history from the University of California, and is the author of 'Take my Order for an Amulet' and 'Female Slave Resistance in the Roman Empire'.
