CSL Haggling

Options
We are in the market for a new leather sofa. Found one we liked in CSL at a cost of near £2.5k.

This was a bit over our original budget so I tried to haggle with them. They just wouldn't budge. Not a penny. Just kept trying to reiterate that I would be buying quality with them and the price was fixed - they began to criticize the quality of other companys furniture, a sales tactic I hate - talk about your own qualities, don't slag off others.

I've never really had a problem getting some discount on high ticket items in the past (carpets reduced from £1000 to £700, car from £6000 to £5000).

I would have hoped there was some room for maneuver as we were keen to buy but we walked out in the end, as it was more than we were willing to pay, but if they would have budged on the price then they would have had a sale. I even tried to get them to throw in free protection and delivery - they wouldn't do that either.

Anyone had any joy with CSL getting some discount? I'm trying another branch at the weekend in the hope I just got an awkward sales person.
