Did you tell them you were BR when you applied for the accounts? If not, they'll do the full credit check, & if you had defaults on your account you may get turned down.
You could try the Nationwide for its Flex account, as that's also recommended for BRs. I suggest you take a look at your credit report. Where recommended accounts are concerned, you'd only usually get turned down if there was something else on your credit file that they might be concerned about.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

the banks were informed i was a bankrupt. The problem seemed to be that I didnt have any utility bills as I had lived abroad for years. I use my mums banck account but im unable to have direct debits. I pay all my bills via paypoint and its a pain in the a$$. I have proof of address now though through receiving the odd bill from water/electric etc
thanks0 -
Hi There,
I was declared bankrupt yesterday, and went and opened a nationwide basic account this morning with no problems. Try Them they were really nice.

Yeah..looks like the problem was the lack of proof of residence. Usually you don't need to if you're on the Electoral Roll at the address you state but as you were living abroad, you won't have been listed on the latest update.0
