If you have a cash converters near you then you can often pick them up cheaply in there, too. (obvi you asked online but - it's a good option if you find yourself passing by one)

Amazon, play.com, cex, cash converters, grainger games, game, blockbuster marketplace, ebay, the game collection and Gamestop.

I know you said online, but half of them do have stores as well plus you can find pre-owned games at Tesco and Asda.

If buying from a Cash Convertors or similar cash for goods store, check the disc before leaving the store as their checks are not as good as the GAME / Game Station / CEX and they may have inadvertently taken in a non-working game.
I've picked up a damaged game from them before which took some arguing to get them to take back for a refund.

To get an idea of what your games are worth and will sell for in the second hand market, search for it here: http://uk.webuy.com/ (CEX)

I'd say check any used discs before leaving the store as with any shop you may get one that isn't in the best condition.

I've never had any problems with cash convertors, if anything I'd be checking CEX discs more. Not all stores check their discs well from what I've read online. However, just because it looks scratched doesn't mean it doesn't work (unless they're really deep, in which case it's less likely to work).

Be aware that some shops do "clean" the discs before selling (GAME and Blockbuster certainly do this) which means they're taking a thin layer of the disc off so that when they sell it it looks all clean and shiny. Do that too many times though and you'll erase the game so if you get a game that has already been traded in it has probably been "cleaned" more than once.
