Does height help with economic success? I also, wear shoe lifts..

Hi, im a male and im 5ft 11.5 inches tall..
This is annoying as im just under 6ft, but, i suppose whenever i wear shoes im over 6ft..
Even slim sandals.
But, at work im noticing more and more that the top earners tend to be slightly taller than the rest of us.
Ive been kind of monitoring this everywhere i go, whether it be Costa's, McDonalds, other offices, Supermarkets etc etc etc
And almost every single time (rarely with exception) the manager/manageress is taller than the average for their sex.
Im not moaning..
Well, maybe i am a little, but why shouldnt i?
Im already annoyed that im just under 6ft!
So, i ordered some shoe lift inserts from Ebay which i can fit into any of my shoes, also, they fit into some of my trainers and even when i wear shorts you can not see a drastic rise, you know...it doesnt look obvious even with shorts.
These inserts give me roughly 1.5 extra inches on top of the shoe sole, so probably just over 2 inches. Taking me to 6ft 2.
Nobody at work has noticed and some of the new people that have just joined are treating me better than pevious newcomers have.
It really is astounding!
But, am i silly for wearing these inserts?
Women wear high heels..
Plus, construction workers gain about 3 inches of height when they wear boots, so why am i feeling bad?
Why has society made me feel this way about myself?
I like myself.
Why is 'it' trying to make me dislike myself?
Just to add, some of those taller people at my job are LESS QUALIFIED than myself and some of my peers!!
I think im getting a napoleon complex here folks and i cant get it out of my head..
Sorry..
Oh, i guess the question is; 'We all know that height equates to success, but am i an idiot for wearing shoe lifts?'
Cheers

I don't agree 'We all know that height equates to success". The other one is 'We all know that good hair equates to success". Isn't true.
5ft 11.5 is tall- the average man in England is 5ft 9ins.

If inserts give you confidence then go for it. But I'd be prepared for some teasing if people at work discover your inserts.
I think you should concentrate on improving your self confidence. And stop worrying about stuff.
Hope this helps!0 -
One of our directors is 4ft11, and whilst she's small, she doesn't feel the need to wear heels etc if it's impractical to do so.
I care more about what someone can/can't do, over how tall they are, and she can do everything I need her to.

There's that well known multi billionaire tall bloke in F1, T think his first name is Bernie?0

Also that taller than average Lord Sugar0

One of my old bosses was 6'8". He got the job mainly because of his height, but only lasted 3 months before they realized he wasn't up to it.
Its not the size but what you do with it...0 -
You are mistaking correlation for causation.0

My grandfather used to wear insoles, which gave him an extra half inch to one inch in height. (He was about 5 ft 11, like you, OP.)
If it makes you feel better about yourself, why not.The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -
If the lifts make you happy and give you confidence why not.
The other big one is posture. Stand up tall and straight and proud and you will look powerful and commanding.
The point is you are not short, far from it.
Be happy, you have a body which works - there are plenty of people out there who would envy you for that........
There has been some academic research that would suggest that tall people are successful, just as there is some evidence to suggest that beautiful/handsome people are more successful.
How much of it is cause and how much is effect. How much is psychological.......
The point is you can never be sure - you only get one run at it.
Make the most of what you have.
You have a body which is fit for purpose, more than the average number of legs (think about that one!!!!).
If you are fit and healthy - then nothing else matters.
You can wear clothes that will enhance your physique, cut and style your hair to make you look attractive, wash and bathe in beautiful fragances to make you smell divine.
Part of being successful is looking successful. It is down to grooming and looking as good as you can.
It is also about character, charm, personality, ability and attitude. It's about working hard and smart and always going the extra mile.
Success or lack of has nothing to do with height. It's irrelevant.
Tom Cruise is tiny - hasn't held him back . Napoleon was small. So too was Alexander the Great, the world's greatest ever military leader. Both just around 5ft.
Lack of height is no excuse for not achieving;).0 -
I'm from a family of shorties! My Dad, Granddad and brother are all about 5'6 - 5'7...they'd love to be 5'11! But all 3 have been successful (only limited in the first two instances by lack of education and opportunities rather than height). I'm only 5'2 but I don't think it's has ever held me back, as others have said being hard working etc is more important.0
