Homemade Exfoliaters

I use the superdrug vitamin E body scrub on my face and it seems to work well.
I think they changed the face scrub (?), it seems to reek of coconut now and it brings my skin upThe report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -
I've posted this before but if you are looking for a gentle everyday exfoliating face wash - I'm making no claims about acne cures here - look no further than porridge oats. My grandmother had exquisite skin and she had never had anything near her face but oats and water - and Oil of Ulay, as it was then. Get cheap porridge oats in your hand and mix in your palm with water to a soft porridge. Smooth all over your face, rubbing gently and rinse off. Gorgeous.0

There is a method of cleaning your skin called Oil Cleansing Method which is using a castor oil mixed with a carrier oil. There is a thread about it on the Health and beauty board.
Be wary of using olive oil as it is comedogenic and can aggravate acne and block pores.
You can use bicarbonate for a quick exfoliator once a week.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

As a part of a cost-cutting drive, I've decided to go back to a home made facial exfoliant. One that I used years ago and I found excellent (if you don't have sensitive skin, which I don't) is ground rice, the sort that is sold to make ground rice pudding. It is quite abrasive, so you can use it in your usual cleanser to reduce this. You can buy a large bag which will last you for ages, and costs a tiny amount compared to even the cheapest shop bought exfoliator.
Another one I've come across is ground nutmeg, which also has an antibacterial effect, with the bonus that it smells good.
These two things mixed together would probably make a great DIY beauty treatment, and also double up as a lovely pudding, too0 -
I use exfoliating gloves too - you can control just how hard or soft or for how long you want to take. my facial skin feels fantastic after a session - and then it takes up my moisturiser better (plain old olive or sunflower oil wiped on sparingly with a cotton ball, then wiped off with kitchen towel). at 59 I have no wrinkles - while my mum looked like a shrivelled apple at the same age! despite her strict cleanse tone and moisturise regime with expensive 'product'.
The olive oil as moisturiser tip came from top model (1970s) Marie Helvin who always used natural products (very unusual at the time).
It also takes off even waterproof mascara! so I use it as a cleanser too - or any cooking oil in an emergency!0 -
i have been having a little problem with my feet and i have been using baby wash and bit of sugar to make a scrub
it seems to be working0
