    :wave::wave: Hello KW **subscribing**

    I can't knit because I'm left handed, well, I can knit but just can't manage the tension so it goes all wonky and out of shape.

    I used to do loads of crocheting, to keep my hands off snacks and fags. I knew how to start and keep going but didn't know how to stop. I ended up carrying a huge blanket everywhere with me and pulling it out to add a bit more.
    I gave up in the end.

    Anyway, good luck with your diary, I'll drop in every now and again

    Joanne

    Hello Knit Witch, :hello:

    Interesting that so many failed knitters are left-handed (yup, another one here :o).

    Hope you can find a new cleaner soon; don't like to think of poor DrKW making his allergies worse by doing the hoovering.. :(

    Hi Knit Witch :hello:

    Have been reading through, and I must say you're tempting me to start making things again. I used to have knitting or crocheting on the go all the time, having learnt both as a child. I knitted lots for my children, until they went to school and decided knitted jumpers were *itchy*, and didn't want to wear them any more. As the price of mass produced clothes came down ,and the price of nice wool went up, it wasn't worth the effort making them things.

    (Although I'm old enough to remember how to get cheap wool...when I was a teenager I would go to jumble sales with my granny, and look for large knitted garments. Then I unpicked and unravelled, wrapping the wool round someone else's hands into hanks, then it was washed to get the kinks out, then rolled into balls...sorted!

    I haven't made anything for years, I still have my needles though, I wonder if I can remember how to do it, I could do everything from lacy 3 ply to complicated aran patterns :)

    joanne109...you can knit when you're left handed, you just need to find the knack that works for you. I'm left handed, and can knit okay, but have to sit in a certain way, because the needles get a bit in the way!

    I think basic crochet is much easier...I was sent to a left handed neighbour to learn it, because my mother just couldn't get through to me...so I used to crochet with the old lady down the street :)
    I quite fancy crocheting a blanket, it's the cost of the wool that's putting me off (my stash is long gone)...does anyone know of a good place to buy?
