Online Photo Album Websites

Hi all

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of using the internet to order their photo albums/books from their wedding?

The photographer is one thing that we both agreed we did not want to scrimp and save on as after chatting to friends and family who have got married they seemed to confirm that generally, price did reflect quality (I know this is not always the case and I think if you get a recommendation for a cheap photographer who's good then that's brilliant!). We have both been surprised at the prices and one thing I wondered about was getting a really good, well recommended photographer do a more digital only package and then send the photos online to get a storybook made.

Has anyone got any advice?

I've made mine via vistaprint - well everything else was free with them :rotfl:I thought I'd give them a shot.

One thing that was important to me was I wanted lie-flat photobooks, and they offered that.

i've had an email today saying it's been shipped today so I will be back to give you all an update once it arrives.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • Yeah definitely let me know how it goes! Did it work out a lot cheaper than ordering from the photographer?

Well if all goes well it was £38 for a large lie flat 48 page album, but like I said..... watch this space.....:rotfl:I may be posting 'don't use this photobook!!!' soon.

Our photographer told us we'd be stupid to pay for one of his albums, and recommended Blurb.co.uk - he showed us some really beautiful, professional-looking examples that his previous clients had made.

We haven't yet got our album - we'll buy it in a year or two, probably - but definitely with Blurb if they're still around.

We used Sarah Elvin as she had a late availability mid-week discount available that week, we got a very good price for our Thursday in August wedding - 3 hour session & all the images on CD in 3 versions (normal, B&W, saturated colour) I think her packages like this usually start at around £300. http://www.sarahelvinphotography.co.uk/

We then uploaded the photos to a Flickr Pr0 account (paid for one year) which includes up to 1 TB space & full HQ uploads (so good for big enlargements) I think this feature is now free!

We used Photobox for prints and enlargements, my sister made us a gorgeous personalised white leather wedding album and to fill this, and give prints to all of our guests (120 people) plus more for frames & gifts etc cost a further £90.

I used double-sided mount dispenser to quickly and nicely place the photos and really enjoyed doing it - I think photos on a matte page separated by tissue leaves are much much nicer than photobooks (just my opinion)

Yes, I had to order, crop, compose an album myself but at least then we got the photos we really liked and the whole wedding photo thing cost less than £300!!! :money:

I'm a wedding photographer and will mostly do digital packages now. I tend to be completely honest with people and say that with the options out there now they can probably get it done themselves cheaper than I can do it for them (if I'm making up albums then obv need to add a bit extra on for the time) and then they get to choose exactly what they want, where they want the prints etc.

Most photographers should be fine with doing that for you. If not then I would be a little wary as I know some that do put a really big mark up on albums and prints and this is where they like to 'top up' their money.
  • Hi all I was wondering if anyone could recommend a company/website that offer photobooks. I've now got my wedding photo's and want to source good, quality photobooks to compile some albums. Your advice and suggestions would be very much appreciated. With thanks x
  • What sort of budget did you have in mind Jenny?

Bob's books and Aperture Books are often used by the pro's for budget albums. The full on Graphistudio thick cardboard page ones are generally supplied only to professionals and cost hundreds to just buy, let alone design and sell with a margin.
  • Well anything up to £100 I was actually wondering what sort of quality the likes of Photobox etc were, whether anyone else had used these for their wedding albums? Or if anyone could recommend any other companys. Thanks
