Our wedding came in at 3.5k, thanks to a hefty guest cull from 100+ to 35.
Which allowed to have the honeymoon we wanted for 11k!0 -
I'm not entirely sure what's ours ended up being but including everything (except honeymoon), I would estimate around £26k (possibly a touch more) We never really inteded to spend that much, but we did shop around and had lots of extras (venue we wanted, dinner with family the night before, band etc) but I think everyone had a great time, and we really did have the best day. It's all paid off now an we didn't get into debt so I think it was worth it0

Ours came in at about £1500, maybe just slightly over? Even if we'd had more guests and done it slightly bigger, it still would have been under £2000.
To me, that was enough to pay....well, my parents to pay!0 -
Ours is coming to around £9,000 we're paying for it ourselves and not getting into debt for it

Ours was about £25K maybe a little more after the 2nd year of planning I just stopped keeping track
I just paid as things came up. I know the biggest things but that's about it

Interesting topic. But really - for memories sake I don't think you should depend too much on the size of the cake, no one will care anyways and if they do they'll forget it the next day.0

I'm having a fake cake! I've got the dummies already just need to decorate them
We're having enough food as it is so we don't need a cake really

Sorry guys, I'd just kinda assumed on MSE we probably wouldn't have many over £12k
I should learn not to assume! ?
I'm definitely no "expert" when it comes to money saving, but I do what I can, where I can, in order that we can afford the nicer things in other parts of life!
Our wedding (excluding honeymoon) is coming in at the moment in the region of £18k. But we haven't had a holiday since September last year in order to save, and we have limited our eating out to once a month.
Just because someone is a keen MSE'er, even a prolific one, doesn't mean they don't have the money to spend on the things that matter to them!
I would rather save money in some areas and spend it on others. Other people would do the opposite.
So it's down to individuality, really!I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0 -

Absolutely valid point. However, we have chosen our cake because it what WE want, not because of what someone else thinks of it.I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0
