Cheap Car Leasing Company

I need to get a new PCP (personal contract plan) contract. PCP basically means I’ll be leasing the car and after the period ends I have the option to purchase the car or just hand it back and start over again.
The company I was with have raised there rates to 7.9%. I was wondering if anyone knows of any websites that has a lower rate or has had any experience with a car leasing company.
Im currently looking to go for a BMW Z4, but the best quote I got was £289, which is way over my budget.
Any advice would be appreciated

You could have a look at:

    http://www.lingscars.com/index.php?status=pcp

They don't have a cheaper Z4 deal but you could see what is realistically affordable within your budget, plus you can get a free lunch.....

I alwys visit www.contracthireandleasing.com for a global check of deals.

Lings is great but only does contract hire leases, rather than PCP's. That is, after the lease period you Don't get the option to buy, you have to hand it back.

Indeed, if you always intend to change cars every 2-3 years then leasing is better all-round as you're only paying in effect the depreciation of the vehicle. Whilst you neer own it, if you do a PCP and then swap every 3 years you never own that either anyway. PC's work out dearer as you are paying extra to factor in interest rates and the potential that you MAY by the car.

I did a quick search and match your £289 but it looks like you're not going to get a Z4 for less than £300 p/month unless you steal one.

I have used Lings for my past 4 cars. From a BMW 535d M-sport last to my first which was a Vectra.

    VERY helpful and great service.

    I recommend them to everyone.

  • Yes, I am real. Whoever you are, Dazed, thanks. Pls note, i publish 600 (!) customer letters on my website. You think I invent those, woohoo, what hard work that would be! :)

I don't often post here to avoid self-promotion, I respect this site and Martin L too much. Just a few notes...

The https://www.contracthireandleasing.com is a comprehensive site (there are many similar sites), but with all these sites there is nothing to stop companies uploading "unreal" deals, and also I thing the VAT handling is wrong (I think any site clearly aimed at private individuals should show prices inc VAT).

Also, there are often fees like awful "document" or "admin" fees, which are purely invented and mean that cars can be advertised cheaper (not disclosing the fees) and then a nasty surprise when you pay the money. I never charge any fees except when a specific finance company will not remove their own fees (eg BMW, SAAB). Also, often the "initial" rental is hidden on these sites, it's not the industry standard 3x rentals (all mine are 3x), but a higher one-off amount. Most companies are good, but some really bad at misleading.

Good luck, there is plenty of choice.

  • Ling was on Dragons Den if I remember correctly :) Thinking of a contract hire car myself after Christmas instead of wasting money on bangers.
  • Dazed, send me an e, tell me who you are!

I am bloody busy :) hehehe

LeeUK, well feel free. A really good deal at the moment is a 3+35 payment (38 total) on a Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 (65bhp) Active Hatchback 3dr 1242cc Met £113.96 inc vat, 3-year rental. Must be reg on 07 plate.

If anyone objects and wants me to remove I will, not trying to advertise... I don't really mind which car you rent (if any) but occasionally such a good deal comes around.

Personal contract hire is not for everyone. You need a good credit score and you are tied into the contract.

Does anyone have any links to companies who do hire contracts for used vehicles? I'm after a 2 or 3 year old Mazda 6 and would like an idea about how much it would cost me to get one via contract.
  • Thor,

The contracts on new cars work so well because manufacturers subsidise them. By putting the cars out via companies like me, the cars are "out of circulation" for 2 or 3 years on a contract. This means they can move vast numbers of new cars without impacting the retail market (which is what would happen if dealers had to bucket them out at retail). It does not distress the retail market, or distress the "brand". All the manufacturers really care about is running their factories as efficiently as possible (therefore, profitably). Along with much more easier to predict residuals (for a car only 3 years old at the end instead of 6 years old) the finance companies are much more comfortable giving rates for new cars.

Also, on a brand new car you know exactly what you are getting and you know exactly what the costs will be (no MOT, standard small services, no tyres/brakes/clutch/other costs if you drive sensibly). On a 3 year old car you will have MOT issues, plus heavier servicing costs... and no manufacturer's warranty, no breakdown cover etc etc.

Then, you factor in my efficiencies (1 person dealing with £2m of retail value cars/mth) compared to dealer sales and costs of sales - and hopefully compared to other contract suppliers, and you see why the monthly prices are so attractive on these new cars.

Probably, the costs to rent an older car would be higher than a brand-new car which why the market doesn't really exist. Hope this helps.
