Mortgages for Discharged Bankrupts

Hi,

My husband and I are looking to buy our first home. We have saved 10% deposit as I am under the impression that you can now get 90% mortgages.

I have a good credit history, always paid credit card in full each month, had car loans etc and paid off and never missed any payments etc. My husband went bankrupt in 2008 and was discharged January 2009 so 4.5 years discharged. What are the chances of us being able to get a joint mortgage and what lenders will consider lending to ex bankrupts. My husband now has a credit card which he clears in full each month to build up his credit history. We earn 53k together and are looking to borrow around 40k.

If we can't get a joint mortgage is there a way his name can be on it with a guarantor or something? What are the options?

a few banks will but it's not easy, someone did a list of loads of Banks that were or were not likely to be open for a mortgage if BR,

    here is the thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2918012

But it would be much easier to leave him off the mortgage, if it's for only £40k then would your wage not cover it?

It would be easy enough to draw up a legal contract to say what his share was, without his name going on the mortgage, as it's hard enough to get a bank to lend, as soon as you add in BR it can be all but impossible...but can be done.

    hi

I have been made bankrupt over 3 years and discharged over 2 years now, and I am about to buy my council house. The property value is around, 60,000 and I already have 20,000 saved, also counting the discount, that would be around 24,000 so I only need around 20,000 mortgage, what are my changes ? does asnyone know any lenders that provide mortgages to Ex-Bankrupt.
