Hi my friend received this letter ( i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w575/johnny2wise/kaz_zps88e2f2ec.png) from swintons regarding her previous car insurance policy, .could anyone give us some advice as it seems they have mis sold her this policy and as she was not aware she had paid for this. would it be better to ring them regarding this or is this similar to PPI miss-selling.
any advice would be much appreciated...:)

That is not what they are saying. They are saying that they may have mis-sold it and given the reason why. If she feels that reason is applicable to her then she contacts them to say so.and as she was not aware she had paid for this.
That is a different complaint entirely to what the letter is on about. How did she buy her insurance (internet, phone or branch)?would it be better to ring them regarding this or is this similar to PPI miss-selling.
Any product can be mis-sold potentially (although there is a difference between being sold and buying - hence the question about internet). If she has reason to complain about how she was sold the product then she makes a complaint. That can be done by phone or letter. Neither way is better than the other. The letter received seems to have little to do with her complaint though. (unless that is actually applicable and she effectively has two complaint reasons).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
