Halfords Sale Online; not in-store...

My son went to our local Halfords to get some new pedals for his bike. Online they are about £20 in the sale, but the local store told him they don't match their own website prices so he'd have to pay the full price of £40. He went home, did Click & Collect, paid online and picked them up moments ago. It seems a bit odd that the stores don't have the same prices as their own website...
