How does CSA stop?

My step son is 16 and we've never missed a payment since we were set up on csa1. He's just got a job for the summer and no doubt is working almost full time but intends to go to college in Sept. we're happy to continue paying whilst he is in college but we have a feeling he'll not last the course and probably get a job.
How do we prove he's not in education? Do we contact them?
Is csa until 20 now?
Also should we be receiving any post from csa? We haven't for years and my husband is reluctant to ring them up in case it causes trouble. If ever they needed to contact him eg when he was reassessed a few years ago, they phoned his mobile and that number hasn't changed so we know they still can contact him but we don't get anything through the post.
Our circumstances haven't changed employment wise but we do have a 6 month old baby. Again we'd rather carry on paying the amount set than inform them and try to get a reduction for our child.
I think my husband is concerned that if and when he contacts them to say his son has finished, he'll get reassessed even though nothing had changed and we've not missed any payments.
Has anyone any experience of ending csa?

Hi ,I'm no expert in CSA(their legislation all too confusing- & I've been involved with them since 1993!) but from what I can gather ..if the qualifying child does more than 24 hours paid work the pwc must inform the ch/ben( even if the child is returning to full time education) The CSA told us(I'm an nrpp) on the telephone their only concern is that the pwc is claiming ch/ben.If she is, then Child maintenance MUST continue to be paid- if she is claiming fraudulently they (CSA)will not know this & you will not receive any refund from them if you overpay them !
You have to wait until they inform YOU it is ending & they don't rush them selves! I wrote to say (as a pwc whose daughter had completed her education)close my case ,the nrp paid me etc in November 2012 & I'm still waiting for acknowledgement of my letter from them, confirmation of case closed. It's gone 6 months & I'm still waiting !!0
