I'm 5'8", 10 stone, size 8, BMI 21. And I eat like a horse :rotfl: I walk to/from work every day, zumba once a week, and 15-20 mins of running once a week. Would love to have a nice toned stomach but it has other plans of it's own, so I just make do.

This is why weight cannot be compared! I'm trying to lose atm, but at 25yo I weighed 9st 13, 5ft 7ins tall, and was a size 14, not an ounce of fat on me! My bone structure would never allow me to be smaller than that! My point being, size 8 is healthy for some, size 14 for others.

I'm also trying to lose weight, im 5ft1 and 53kg, take dress sizes between 8-12.
I'm carrying more fat than i would like and im getting marries within 3 years so would love to tone-up and lose some belly fat (a few cupsizes wouldn't hurt either!)
I'm extremely small-framed, my wrist is only 5 inches , so i figure my 'natural' toned size would be a 6/8.

Im generally eating fresh home-cooked food, low in fat and carbs.
I also do some weight training to improve my muscle tone and regularly walk to town (live in sheffield so its hilly!)

Low in carbs in fine but don't worry too much about fat - remember low fat usually means they have taken the healthy fats out and replaced them with sugar!

How long since you started the diet/exercise regime? How old are you?

I have always been a size 10, but there is a big different with the way I look between a comfortable size 10 and occasional size 8 clothes and size 10 that is becoming tight, which was where I was before Christmas. I decided to really do something about it, went on a healthy diet, reducing calories, and started exercising well 4 times a week. I couldn't believe when after 6 weeks, I hardly lost any weight, was gutted, but decided ti keep it up. It all happened about 2 months onwards, and quite fast afterwards.

What I gathered is that it now (at 42) takes my metabolism a lot longer to kick in then it used to. I also realised that I was exercising a lot more than I had in the past when trying to lose weight (up to 6 times a week) so my body was going through quite a change in constitution which meant a transfer of weight (ie. losing fat, building muscles).

7 months later and I can really see the difference. I have lost some weight, but more importantly, for the first time in my life, I look fit! I didn't see it that much until my mum came in February and told me how much my upper body shaped had changed. I now can see it.

Don't give up. Just make sure that what you think is a low fat diet really is one, and that you haven't increased quantities too much. If you do because of your exercise regime, make it an increase in protein and decrease in carbohydrates (but not completely as you will need it for energy).
