Dies anyone have an Ikea/European Size Mattress

My wife and I are moving soon and being 6ft4 I would have preferred a king size bed as the new bed in our life. Unfortunately, the master bedroom in the new place is a little too small for that to be a sensible option, but the rest of the house is perfect so we've taken it.
I see that European size beds are 3 inches longer and 1 inch wider and seem a good compromise to me, if a little hard to get mattresses for in the UK.
The main place to get a mattress (and a bed itself) this size seems to be Ikea. Does anyone have recommendations for the best Ikea mattresses? And, is there anywhere else that does European sizes for a reasonable price for the UK?

The fitted sheets from Ikea are a bit costly though. I have not been able to find a good fitting mattress protector either.
On the positive side, the extra 3" in length is a bonus0
