I'm a FTB too, I have looked on ebay out of desperation but tbh the majority on there are from EAs so it quickly becomes tiresome seeing the ones from Rightmove that you're not interested in - I would imagine any independent ones would get lost between them...

    Has anybody actually sold though?

When selling our last two houses, they were quite *niche market* period properties and we did consider alternative ways of attracting buyers. I remember seeing a couple of very interesting character houses - converted chapels etc - on eBay for sale privately by the vendor some years back and I was frustrated that when searching on Right Move you can't do a keyword search, for example for 'Arts & Crafts' style houses.

I thought that maybe people who buy Arts & Crafts furniture etc on online auctions might also be tempted to search for a similarly styled one-off character house in the same way.......but tbh, I also found that most houses on eBay were those with EAs and quickly came to the conclusion RM (and Zoopla to a lesser extent for me personally) is the main place to look when buying in England/Wales. I think if more people - or indeed anyone selling a house in Engand/Wales - had actually sold on eBay we'd hear more about it ;)

We did actually advertise our last-but-one house in the property section of Period Property UK, as I believed people looking to buy that type of house may search there - but the only interest we had was from an investor who never came back to us :o

I have decided to rent my house out and move to the area I want to be (i.e. rent). Not ideal (as it would probably be the eight or ninth time I have rented in less than a decade), but its clearly not the right time to sell and I would most likely not sell within three months.

I have a feedback of about 350 now half selling, I have never had a huge amount of issues but there is the odd non payer, so its easier to list items with an immediate payment required option on a buy it now, this means thry cant buy without paying straight off,

Personnally if i'm in to bid I don't delay on paying but some do,

I just had my worst experience, I sold an item which was new I even re checked the box was complete, the item was shipped fast and tracked, they claimed straight away a 3rd of a refund, I was livid, and Ebay took there side from start to finish I now have bad feedback from them, and ebay refused to remove it, I never paid the refund ebay actually paid it as there was no proof, but I was furious I spent nearly a day on the phone and online chat and all the while I had, oh yes I can see why your so upset etc etc but they never changed anything, the buyer had even had a report to say they'd done it recently to someone else.

The other thing is as a seller you cant leave crap buyers bad feedback but they can you, another bright idea from ebay, i'd stick to gumtree if I were you.

Yeah my feedback is pretty much like yours and over half through selling. I've got a few negatives over the years and had to wait a year each time for them to disappear. Frustrating because the buyers were complete numpties! The last one (just over a year ago) bid on an item that was delivery only. he called me to arrange collection and explained that I was moving abroad at the time so didnt have time to wait around for a collection. in the end he never collected the item and left me negative feedback. I tried leaving him negative comments (via a positive feedback) but eBay removed it for him. Fair enough but it should be more difficult to simply leave negative feedback. Also, it should be easier to block bidders with a certain negative criteria (e.g. recent negative feedback, low feedback or when they have only been a member for a very short while).
