Why don't they split this forum in two

Options
Why don't they have a separate buying/selling and a separate renting forum in MSE. These are two quite distinct areas both of which generate a lot of posts and right now it's just a big jumble. I vote for partition now.

I think having all the property together is useful, despite coming here because I'm buying my first house I've also picked up a lot of useful information about being a tenant.

there are lots of questions regarding buying houses to let and letting houses that are mortgaged without letting rights.

    Difficult to sort out.

OP why do you ask do you find it particularly confusing?

TBH I find it good that they are together. A lot of buying and renting issues overlap, and many people "in the know" about property issues can respond to queries from buyers, renters and landlords alike. Where would the frequent "Should I rent or sell", "Buying a property with tenants", or "My tenants won't allow buyers to view" fit in for instance?

I tend to concentrate on the renting/letting threads as that is my main interest and experience, but find it quite easy to scan through the forum and pick the posts of interest.

I know its been asked before, but it would be very difficult to disentangle some threads and moderators do not have the time to sift through them all and relocate to the correct topic page. Hence it could end up being disjointed, as renting issues may crop up in the "buying" forum and vice-versa, so people who only frequent one or the other may miss something, and posters may feel the need to duplicate/cross post in both to ensure best replies.
