Military Pensions / Tax Credits

Hope someone can help?

I was medically discharged from the forces and assessed to have a 60% disability.

I therefore received the relevant pension from the Military plus war pension from the Veterans Agency for which I am very grateful.

My problem arises when I fill in my Tax Credits review in the section "Other Income". I understand the war pension is discounted but have been declaring my Army Pension as Other Income.

After discussing this with a friend in a similar situation, he informs me that he does not declare his pension as it is for medical reasons and is not a retirement pension.

PLEASE tell me if I should be declaring this amount or NOT.

Many many Thanks,

Tim.
