Hello guys,
I'd be really grateful of some advice. My circumstances are that I'm currently unemployed and my new job doesn't start until September (claiming interest repayment benefit). I have a repayment mortgage with £36,000 still owing; My house value is £145,000 (minimum), so I have a considerable amount of equity. My dilemma is that I want to release £20,000 of my equity for home improvements (drive, fencing etc) and being a single Mum, NOW would be ideal- whilst I have spare time, as come September, I'll have extra money, but NO time! So is this possible- to remortgage now, in view of my current situation? Or maybe you could someone suggest an alternative solution? I did briefly ask my mortgage provider, who seemed more concerned about how I would pay it back, this wouldn't be a problem as I'm very careful with balancing my finances and never live beyond my means. I have never missed a payment and owe nothing further on credit.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

How are you paying for the mortgage at the moment?0

how on gods earth are you going to spend 20k on fencing and the drive, i could build a 2 story extention for that!
i dont think you can get 20k mortgages though i may be wrong and touching your current one might cause probs with the insurance payments.
cant you just buy the parts of the the jobs that will take the most time on a credit card with an interest free period then pay them off once you are in employment.
my estimate for a fence would be £10 a post and say £4 a slat.0
