The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester is open every day, and has many great exhibitions, with lots of hands on stuff for the kids to take part in. They often have special exhibitions, like the current one, Cotton Connections (Which runs until the 3rd June). There is loads of free stuff to make and take home, and a great restaurant too (Though a little pricey  )
There is also a doctor who event going on until the 5th November, where you can go and view real models used in the tv show. (Check in at the museum for prices though).

Hope this helps someone!

We went a few weeks ago and it's a good free day out. You only have to pay if you want to go on the train £1 each and for the Dr Who exhibition. Plenty of stuff to see though without paying. Parking around the museum is around £4 for the day. Although if you go on a Sunday, the on street parking bays down the road are free. One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0

Prices? sorry this is the Freebie board.
did you not read the full post?
the actual museum is FREE the dr who exhibition is an extra that was worth mentioning that some people may be interested in.
why question the post?
if you are going to be so awkward about things like that you might as well say nothing is free as you paying for electricity and wear and tear on you keyboard and monitor!
good post eggypastymmmm free stufffffffff0 -
if you go to the museum , keep an eye out for the Granite ball. Its HUGE , and weighs something like half a ton , but can be spun round with your little finger....you will understand what i mean when you see it!James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -
Thanks for all the friendly replies!
Glad to see you guys found it helpful

PS - Yeah the granite ball is in the Xperiment exhibit, which is basically just hands on. It's amazing how some of the stuff works there, like you can pull a real mini. Look close enough in there, and you can also see the coronation street sets0 -
last time I went to the science museum (end last year) tbh it was looking desperately in need of some funding! A number of hands on exhibits were not working
Still, the three museums really are a great (free) day out and I guess eating at the resturaunt helps pay toward upkeep?0 -
I think so olly - And the steady flow of donations, as you can see in the donations bucket there :P
I do suggest you bring your own lunch though, as the restaurant is extortionate!0
