Shopacheck/Provident Help please...

Options
Hi
I have a loans with both shopacheck and provident. Things have been great but my financial situation has recently changed and now I am really struggling to pay both of them each week.
At the moment I am paying £100 per month on shopacheck and £130 a month on provident but there is no way i can now afford that.
I also moved a month ago so have new agents for both loans as we moved quite a distance.
I don't know what to do?? Because I am scared as it is people coming to the door for payment.
If I write to the actual companies and explain my situation and try to arrange a reduced payment plan for now does anyone think they would accept it and would the agents stop coming to my house?
(thing is most i can afford is £10 per month on each loan)
Please someone give me some advice. I also have a 1 year old daughter so really don't want people knocking on my door constantly threatning me and me not being able to leave the house without someone being there waiting.
Before anyone says i realise that i was stupid to get loans from companies like them but last year when i first did it it seemed a good idea which obviously now i understand was stupid at me so if you are only going to comment to judge me please don't.
Thanks for genuine advice in advance xx

Have you read Providents advice on what to do if you have a change of circumstances?

    http://www.providentpersonalcredit.com/loan-repayment-issues/

Reality is you could have a sympathetic collector or an over zealous one who will hound you.

Appreciate you don't want judgmental answers but after 8 posts, you haven't followed any advice given in any of your posts ever... is this one different?

Thanks for your reply and i appreciate what you are saying but yes i have tried to follow the advice but i have got myself in to a lot of trouble and at the time provident and shopacheck seemed like a good idea. I realise now it was stupid but i have also now realised that i have got to sort my financial situation/
  • Ring your local office & ask to speak to the manager, if you can make an offer & stick to it they should be willing to accept it. A lot of people are struggling to pay at the moment.
If you don't want to see an agent you can ring provident & they'll take a card payment over the phone.

Be sure to get any agreement in writing. They have a responsibility to treat you fairly. They may tell you things on the phone they would never put in writing, so I would write to them.

I would not give them my card details, as they could and may well help themselves, especially if no agreement in writing.

If you must give them card details, get a pre-paid one and only put enough on it to cover the amount you pay them.

Yes - that's what you should do. It's best done through a third party, but you could do it yourself

With Provi you make payment direct to their head office, usually to their solicitors CK Edrupt.

Shopacheck are less well organised but the principle is the same.

Hello, I used to pay £100 4 wekly to provident. My partner lost his job. I explained that I could pay £50 a month, they tried to get me to agree to more but I stuck to my guns and they accepted. I said i just dont have more.

    Good Luck

    :)
