temporary promotion. how long before...

how long can you be temporary promoted before your employer HAS to make you a permanent post at that grade?
trying to find info on the internet with no luck yet.

some say 1 year but i'm unsure.

As a trade unionist, i've got members who have been doing the work of a higher grade post for years to discover the post gets offered to someone else during interview or the post ceases to exist and the holder returns to their substansive post years later.
Sorry it's not what you want to hear.

Ohreally is right, my best friend spent her early career doing a post "temporarily" for eight years! They then interviewed her and one other person, who got the job. She left and the company promptly collapsed! Sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear.

I may be wrong but I believe they also don't have to pay you the level of a permanent post? Maybe someone else can clarify.
