leaving the NHS

So as per previous posts I have quetions about the NHS. I have been invited for a role as support worker for people in supported housing via the council. The flats are run by the local HA.

The money is good but would it be a bad thing to leave the NHS? If I decided to return say next year would I get up starting at the bottom of band 2 again?

Depending if it is a Band2 job you were applying for but even if it was, they can always agree to put you on 2 points up from the bottom of the band.

Well it was just an example ;) I'm currently band 3 and know that when I move next year I am likely to become band 2. Will a break from the NHS change my wage?

It's usually at the Trust's discretion. They are not obligated to start you at the same pay point as you left on.

But who says you will be applying for Band2 job ever again?

All depends what band a job is advertised on - not where you worked/how much you were paid before (NHS or not)

Most HCA jobs are band 2, there will soon be less band 3's around. I Will be aiming for any band 3 I see or even band 4 but who knows.

I'm stuck on band 2. Can't seem to get anywhere. My ward don't need band 3"s (or should I say won't fund training/higher bands). Have been applying for band 3 but not getting anywhere.

The only good thing about working for the NHS is sick pay benefit and holiday entitlement. Its not bad if you are on a good banding such as top level 3 and above. Personally speaking, ive worked for NHS for 22 years and stuck in a rut. I would love to venture out but in my toen there isnt that many jobs, and non that pay well as NHS or give good benefits. If you can move to a better job I would go for it, saying that if you love your job why bother?

Ive said it before the grass isnt always greener on the other side, but if you are unhappy in your current postition go for it.

Dont end up like me after 22 years wishing you had taken the other road that was available then
All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.
