Nationwide Mortgage Application

I made a mortgage application online on the 8th June
It took until yesterday for the application to be received (as per the email I received)
It now says Valuation Instructed.
What I want to know is at what stage do Solicitors come into play. I was intending to use the Nationwide free conveyancing/panel solicitor as I don't have any personal recommendations so there was no reason not to.
There was no reference to choosing a solicitor in the application so I don't know at what stage I am supposed to decide this, and now the estate agent are chasing to know the name of my solicitor. Can anyone help?
I'm regretting trying to do it online rather than in branch, as I thought it'd be easier than trying to fit in bank appointments when I work full time, but I'm not sure if this is the case.

I'd love to know any further with this thread, as I'm now in exactly the same situation as you.

I have done a remortgage with nationwide but I went through London & Country mortgage advisors (free of charge) applied on Wednesday accepted on Thursday and surveyor coming out Monday. L&C gave me great advice for finding the best mortgage. :money:0

I have an application going through with Nationwide with a broker.
Full application went in on 11th June, valuation was 17th June and satisfactory valuation report recieved 18th June, now just waiting for employer's reference (final thing) which has already been sent back and should be sorted Monday.
I'm a FTB but very impressed with how quickly its going...! :beer:0
