Tax Credits - Didn't inform re changeser

Hi,
My partner and I are in receipt of tac credits with the disability element for myself and I only work 19 hours a week. My partner's income on last year's form was the six months payment for contribution based JSA and she was otherwise unemployed. She did 2 weeks work this past year, but I did not tell them she had got a job as I did not know how long it would last and I didn't want to upset the payments if it didn't last. Now it has come to renewal I am afraid to fill in the amount she earned as it will show that I did not tell them that she was working. Will I be in trouble for not saying anything, given that the job only lasted for 2 weeks? Will I be in worse trouble if I don't declare what she earned?

As you were entited to WTC as a couple due to your work/disability element it should not be an issue.
You are required to notify the TCO of certain things e.g. if your hours drop below the required threshold or you/partner stop or start work. You are supposed to do this within one month.
However the impact of only 2 weeks work is unlikley to impact your entitlement to a huge degree so tell them now - they will need dates, income earned and employer details.

Thank you Benefitbaby Baby. Your answer and the link was really helpful. It sounds like the best thing to do is to declare what she earned and see what they say. It was only £200 or so.0

You should only be reporting new employment if the employment is expected to last for 4 or more weeks. 2 Weeks work would not be recorded even if it was reported now.0
