we are selling our house. we have buyer and an offer. but we have been waiting for two weeks for the survey. is this normal,or does it mean the buyer cannot get the mortgage, the estate agents say its ok to look and to put in offers?

Are you purchasing another property?
If you are, I would tell my client (your buyer) not to apply for a mortgage or to spend any fees until you find somewhere and the chain forms up.
It wouldn't be the first time a vendor has pulled out as they could find nothing after my clients had spend hundreds on mortgage and survey fees.
If they are planning to apply for a mortgage before having confirmation you have an onward move, two weeks is not a long time with some lenders.I am a mortgage broker. It took almost 4 weeks for my lender to do the survey (little building society), but then everything was very quick. Looks like it was not their priority in the process, I as a borrower was checked first.FTB! - Completion 24 may 2013 :j

Our Mortgage Co, Halifax instructed surveyors last Tuesday but Surveyors (Colleys) are really busy in our area at the moment apparantly so it's taking ages to get it done
Might be the same issue for your buyers.0 -
There seems to be major problems in some areas:

What part of the country are you?
Initially you should get back to your agent and get them to find out what is going on, that is what you are paying them for, they should be able to confirm f the buyer has finance agreed, and they will also know if valuations are slow in your area.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
