I'm not sure if this has already been posted elesewhere at this forum. Apologies if it has. Buy cheap online CDs now or miss out before too much longer, perhaps...this sounds like a disaster, due to an awful high court ruling:

Guess this is more a discussion type of thread than a grab it now
I say we should string up the BPI. Money for artists and to improve music for customers?! No, sounds more like please keep lining my pockets, we'll just say its for the music. I want my £3 million bonus and mansion at the end of this month.0 -
MADNESS!
We get flamed for illegally downloading music after years and years of rip off prices for CD's thats costs penny's to make. yet when a company makes available reasonably priced CD's to "Rip Off Britain" they get done over by greedy fat cats worried where their next Ferrari is coming from. I'm just glad that i haven't brought a CD for years, i hate to think my hard earned cash is lining the pockets of record companies and paying for over rated tosh and priory clinic appointments for the likes of Robbie Williams and trailer trash like baldy Spears!
POWER TO THE CONSUMER!!2007 Comping challenge -> £00.00 <-Typical luck!:mad:0 -
And now with fast internet connections and audio formats like FLAC you can get perfect audio quality too. But of course we shouldn't be advocating piracy here0

Even more reason to download albums for free off 'tinternet0

To be honest I don't think this will make a great deal of difference, for those determined to get a good price.
I have used CD Wow quite a lot in the past but nowadays I find I can get better deals elswhere, using a variety of search sites, including Gemm, MusicStack, Netsoundmusic and Amazon Marketplace.
It still usually works out cheaper to buy 1 CD from abroad (including postage costs) than it does to buy in the UK.
I think the UK music industry has become blind with greed and are still trying to fight the Internet rather than emebrace it and make it work for them.
They might be able to use (flawed?) UK laws to stop a company selling legitimate CDs they have acquired elsewhere, but they can't stop individuals choosing where to buy from (although I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they try that next).
In the meantime use https://www.gemm.com, https://www.netsoundsmusic.com, https://www.musicstack.com and, of course Amazon to get the best deals on CDs.0 -
I'd agree with Hawk, since CD Wow was forced to actually put it's prices up there are lots of cheaper options out there.
I think that the record companies stance that prices in this country support a vibrant music scene is laughable. Not only are we being ripped off, we are subsidising the rest of the world! (given that CD Wow supplied discs from the very same record companies).
I have never downloaded music, but decisions like this that are clearly based on greed do make it much more tempting as it seems to be the only way for the consumers voice to be heard.
Paul1Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
This just proves that the BPI only care about profits. They clearly havent thought about all the cdwow customers that the freezing of the assets affects. All the people with orders/pre orders at wow cant get thier goods0

I have just contacted cdwow and they have confirmed that all outstanding orders will be delivered within the next few days. Hopefully that's true!0
