I applied for ESA for my son last week..he's 16 and has learning disabilities and ASD and is oving onto a special needs course at college in September. I was told I could claim this for him so rang up (as his appointee)
Just had a text from jobcentre+ saying 'We have awarded your benefit. We will confirm this is writing. We will pay you within 3 working days,'
Is that IT????! I was expecting long forms to be sent to us and having to get 'proof' He does get high rate DLA..have they accepted that as proof?
Sounds too good to be true!!

Probably seen on the system he has Higher rate DLA and therefore no point going through0

Have they said which group he's in? If not, all that is still to come.
I claimed ESA about a month and a half ago. I had to sent in a GP fit note. I was then income assessed, and put on a rate which was basic plus an income rate. So you start getting income quite quickly.
Today my ES50 form arrived. That's the one like DLA - that's long and you need all the support, etc. They will then decide to award or send to medical (more likely.) They'll then either say fit for work, work related or support group.
So, while the benefit was awarded - that's not it I'm afraid.
I have high rate DLA too."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
Ah ok, thanks for that info..I did think it seemed suspiciously easy. After about 14 years of doing his DLA forms I now have yet more to do then.. sigh...
Thanks again:)0
