Now I realy do feel emarrassed
,
But you learn the hard way some times.
The mis-description was unintentional. The postage WAS intentional as I was prepared to make a loss on a good item just to get people to have a look at my other items. These are things that I was going to take to the charity shop but decided to have a go and see if I could get a little something for some of them.
I've only recently started to sell my stuff online so am still learning but I have already managed to sell a few things at very low money and some of these with free postage. So far the tactic has worked. Not too fussed at for how much it goes for as it was going to the charity shop otherwise. £1 was what I was willing to take for that item. I think soolin mentioned that you should always start with the price you are willing to take so not to be upset if it does get there.
Feedback so far has been great so I know that my things are good.
Very willing to send the bag only scared of having made a mistake and not recieved reply so was undecided as to what to do. Bag is on its way.0 -
yazzine, I think the loss leaders is not a great eBay strategy. People tend to shop on ebay to get one item they want at the cheapest price. It's a complely different marketplace to putting a loss leader in a shop window to get footfall.
Also, although you are not fussed what items go for, you do have to make your time pay.
I have a friend who spends hours each week listing brick a brack and she sometimes makes losses on it, whereas she could have put in for a couple of hous over-time (really well paid job) and given all the cr*p to charity.
And then just to make it worse, sometimes she's had dealers turn up and give her the 99p for the item to sell them in a better way and make better money.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I agree with ballisticbrian unless you are a business with a shop I don't think people routinely look at sellers other items. I have a lot of BINs on my business account (I don't have a shop) and I get questions from people asking me if I can get x to match y that I am selling, when Xis clearly listed by me .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
