Don't know what to do?

Hello everyone :),

I sold a handbag on Saturday as used with picture showing one tiny fault. Then as I was packing it, noticed another little fault - so I emailed the buyer asking what they would like for me to do but no response, I emailed again Monday morning.

What should I do? I sold the bag for £1 + £1.50 p&p, Buyer paid straight away. Had intended to post out on the Saturday but as I got no response am still waiting. I sent pictures of fault and asking what they would like for me to do.

The bag is lovely even with these faults I would pay extra - BUT that is me I don't know about the buyer.

I won't have problems later on? I have sent messages and pictures so it should be ok? I would be a little upset if someone did that to me and have told seller in past to send item as they had told me of fault just before posting and obv. was honest mistake on there part.

As it could come back to bite you (dispute opened/reported sold not as described, negative review etc.) I would cancel the sale and refund the money, at least send another email to say that if they do not reply by *** to say they are happy with the second fault then the sale will be cancelled and refunded.
It might only be a few £'s but is it worth the possible bad feed back?
Then either list or do not bother and before listing any other items look at them with a really critical eye (your buyers will!).
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

If it were me, I would just refund the lady the full amount inc P&P and post it out for her to do as she pleases , for such a paltry sum, what is there to lose, as a gesture of goodwill. If she caused a fuss she would be allowed to, as in ebays eyes, you had not fully described all the faults . It is pennies not exactly hundreds of quid. GL

I'd send it, for the sake of £2.50 if the buyer moans later you can tell them to keep it and refund.

Incidentally, are you sure you can get a handbag wrapped safely enough to stay within the large letter size?

No it will cost more to send and value of bag even with the faults is much more (a risk I chose to take) - but it was just to get other buyers in to look at my stuff and hopefully buy other items :o.

Ok thankyou I will post out after dropping kids to school.

Not giving it for free as it almost is free at that price. If the fault had been found after then I would have refunded, but I have tried to be honest and given an option to the buyer.

Yes, I went over all my other things soon as I noticed a fault with the bag.

Is this a full size handbag? Unless it goes very flat, I can't see you posting this for £1.50.

As it sold for £1 then that is its value.
The value of something is only what someone is willing to pay for it and nothing to do with what it originally cost or what a fault free version of a similar item would sell for.

Had it been me I'd have popped a pound coin and a note into the bag and posted it with apologies for not noticing.
If buyer still complained I'd refund the £1.50 as well.

Not worth losing goodwill for a £2.50 loss.
  • "don't know what to do" how about....

You sold a damaged bag for just a quid and is mis-described and post was down as £1.50 , not prepared to post it out free to the lady nor BIN IT and refund the person, my initial thought is ,that is so small to post, that it must surely be out the home of The Borrowers!
NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself"
